Nexer makes further contributions to Ukraine

Nexer has become a partner of Star for Life Ukraine, a non-profit sub-organisation of Star for Life. In addition to the partnership, the company has contributed with 100 computers, backpacks, pens, notepads etc.

Star for Life Ukraine was founded in 2022 with the aim to increase the self-esteem of Ukrainian schoolchildren, develop their IT skills and provide psychological help since many children experience dreadful war trauma.

For the latter, Voices of Children charity fund, uniting 50 psychologists, partnered with the project. Another partner, IDF School, provided teaching programs, while Nexer supported with computers and expendables.

The need in Ukraine is still extensive, and since Nexer has strong ties to Star for Life, it was a given for us to also contribute to Star for Life Ukraine”, says Beatrice Silow, Communications and Culture Manager at Nexer Group.

The partnership started in the Region of Ivano Frankivsk, in the local school at Verkhovyna. The school experiences many challenges due to the drastic increase of children (IDP families relocated from Eastern parts of Ukraine because of Russian occupation). Specifically, the school needs an additional extracurricular activity to engage children and minimise stress that they went through in 2022. Unfortunately, having limited resources, this challenge, in times of ongoing war, is almost unsolvable for a local school. But, together, we can change the situation.

Star for Life Ukraine and Nexer already opened Star for Life Lab in Verkhovyna – a class with modern computers installed. From January 2023, a new offline program, “Android coding for kids”, will be launched at Star for Life Lab and will keep educating children throughout the year (with the financial support of Nexer).

Star for Life was started in 2005 by Christin and Dan Olofsson, founders of the Danir Group, of which Nexer is a part. Since then, over 500,000 young people have participated in Star for Life’s four-year program in public schools across Sweden, South Africa, Namibia, and Tanzania. Through a unique educational program, Star for Life coaches strengthen students’ self-esteem and motivate them to invest in their education and make wise life decisions. In this way, they can build a better future and, as adults, contribute to a more equal, fair, and sustainable society.

Nexer and its employees have previously donated 1,5 million SEK to Ukraine.
